Your Support for Line 3 Continues to Make a Difference! THANK YOU!

You helped Minnesotans for Line 3 gather and deliver over 6,800 comments to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in support of the Line 3 pipeline replacement project. The comments urged the MPCA to approve permits and make sure this projects moves forward.

Not only does replacing Line 3 protect the environment, the thousands of jobs this project will create will help Minnesota’s economy recover by bringing people and spending to our communities.

What’s Next?

Minnesota is closer than ever before to approving this important project. The review of Line 3 has gone on for more than five years! The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has four times unanimously voted to approve it.

Once the MPCA has completed its review of the comments on the draft 401 Water Quality Certification permit and the other permits, the agency will make any needed changes and issue the final versions. Other agencies are expected to make decisions about their permits for Line 3 sometime year. We’re on the home stretch! There are just a few final steps before getting started with construction:

  • The Public Utilities Commission will issue written approval of the Certificate of Need and Route Permit
  • The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), Army Corps of Engineers, and Department of Natural Resources will issue permits

Once these permits are issued, construction on the Line 3 replacement can finally begin.
